Obituary for Norwin Sather
Norwin Sather, age 91, of Watertown, SD passed away February 4, 2022 at his home.
Visitation will be 5-7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Interment will be private with family at St. Mary’s Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Jason Neville, Ryan Neville, Corey Sather, Mark Hassing, Scott Sather and Reed Sather.
Norwin Peter John Sather was born February 10, 1930 in Cleveland, North Dakota to John and Anna (Horsted) Sather. When Norwin was seven years old the family moved to the Bryant and Erwin area. The family then moved to a farm near Hayti where he grew up, attended school and graduated from Hayti High School in 1948.
He enlisted in the US Air force and after being honorable discharged from the Air Force, he worked for several carpentry contractors. In 1955 he began working on interior carpentry and drywall on Capp Homes, a package home, throughout South Dakota and western Minnesota. In 1968 he started building homes and multi-dwellings in Watertown and the surrounding areas. Norwin also was employed as project manager for two and a half years for Jim Bervin of BFR Properties, a residential real estate developer.
Norwin and Mary “Mickey” Weber were united in marriage on October 12, 1957 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown.
Norwin enjoyed golfing, was a member of the Elks 838 and Home Builders Association in Watertown which Norwin was instrumental in starting.
Norwin is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mickey; his children, Scott (Steph) Sather of Watertown, SD, Reed (Amy) Sather of North Liberty, IA and Noreen (Rod) Neville of Montevideo, MN; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Wayne.
