Obituary for Owen A. Thacker
Owen Alfred Thacker, age 80, died July 24, 2020 at Avantara Nursing Home in Watertown, SD.
Owen was born February 22, 1940 in Central City, South Dakota to Floyd and Sophie (Meyer) Thacker. Owen grew up on the family farm north of Watertown. He graduated from Watertown High School, Class of 1957.
Owen married Sharon Robbins in 1960. They later divorced.
Owen is survived by his daughters, Angelina Huckins and Theresa Hanson, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Owen will be missed by his loving companion of over 30 years, Vicky Timm. Together they enjoyed fishing, car rides in the countryside, playing cards and their cats.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Warren and older sister Beverly.
Owen loved playing billiards and was well-known for his pool-playing skills, competing in many tournaments individually and with leagues. He was a farmer, worked as a parts man at Watertown Implement in his younger years, and lastly worked at and retired from Minnesota Rubber in Watertown. Owen could fix anything, especially vehicles and farm equipment. And, with a little twine string and a bit of old wire, he never met a fence he couldn’t revive.

Owen was laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown, SD.
