Obituary for Paula I. Campbell

Paula Dube Campbell, age 78, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away Friday, April 14, 2023 at Estelline Nursing and Care Center in Estelline, SD. She had suffered numerous strokes over the last eight years.

A memorial open house will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at 1835 Williams Dr. in Watertown, SD.

Paula Irene was born in Nashua, New Hampshire to Oscar and Lucille (Beland) Dube on February 22, 1945. She grew up and lived in Wilton, New Hampshire and the surrounding towns.

She worked as a bookkeeper most of her life until a stress injury made it difficult to use her computer. She then took up a life of art, painting and jewelry making, and opened a shop called “Sophisticated Stones”. After retirement Paula moved to Dade City, Florida.

Finally in 2013 Paula moved to Watertown, South Dakota to be near her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Paula is survived by her daughter, Christine (Marlin) West; her son, Mark Griffin; her stepson, Jim (Jolene) Campbell Jr.; her grandchildren, Jessica (Adam) Birger, Samuel (Ashley) West, Tom West and Mackenzie Moore, and William West; her great-grandchildren, Travis, Emma and Zachary Birger, Gracie and Harrison West, and Marli West; and the wonderful family of AnnRae Hochheimer who adopted Paula as their mother and grandmother.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Lucille Dube; her sister, Pamela Parkurst; and her ex-husband, James Campbell.

Paula’s family would like to thank Meadow Lake Assisted Living and Estelline Nursing and Care Center for the love and care they had for Paula.
