Obituary for Rita M. Bernstein
Rita Bernstein, age 72, of Florence, SD passed away Monday, February 6, 2023.
There will be a visitation from 2-4:00 pm, with a prayer service at 4:00 pm on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Rita M. Bernstein was born March 12, 1950 in Denver, Colorado to William F. and Alma L. (Packer) Craig. She grew up in the Denver area and attended Arvada West High School until 1968.
She married Lee D. Bernstein on December 26, 1981. The couple was blessed with their daughter, Annette. They lived in Colorado, North Dakota and then resided in South Dakota.
Rita was a nutritionist of Ridgehome in Wheat Ridge, CO. She was a cook and also a plumber at Andor until retirement.
For many years Rita enjoyed sewing prom dresses, bridal party gowns and many, many children’s clothes. She then found her love of embroidery and quilting which she enjoyed giving her creations to her family and friends.
Rita’s love for Elvis may just have been more than her love for her family because anyone that has been in her home knows Elvis is plastered all over the house! Elvis’ songs could always be heard in her vehicles.
Her biggest accomplishments in life were raising her daughter and seeing her granddaughter, Brooke achieve her goals.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Bernstein of Florence, SD; her daughter, Annette Stevens of Florence, SD; her granddaughter, Brooke (Justin Bentz) Stevens of Eureka, SD; her siblings, Douglas Craig of San Tan City, AZ, Vickie (Pat) Addy of Wheat Ridge, CO and Norma Jane (Frank) Riedel of Summerville, SC.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, William Craig; and sister, Sharron Percell; and her son-in-law, Larry Stevens.
