Obituary for Robert B. Marx

Robert B. Marx, 76, of Castlewood, SD, passed away at his residence on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

Bob was born on June 30, 1942 in Kenosha, WI to his parents, Beryl and Hazel Marx. He grew up at a farm near Fairmont, MN and graduated from the nearby Grenada High School. He went to college and soon after joined the military. Bob was a Navy journalist in Okinawa, Japan and was honorably discharged. He worked in Minneapolis at Honeywell before moving to South Dakota. The Marx family created a home in Britton, SD where they worked and raised their family. Bob later retired in Watertown on Lake Kampeska. Most recently, he resided in Castlewood, SD.

Some of Bob’s greatest passions in life was spending time with family and friends in the fields hunting or fishing for the next big catch. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in their various sports and activities.

Bob is survived by his wife, Janelle Marx (Stimson) of Castlewood; daughter Kari Walker of Fargo, ND; son Jason (Melissa) Marx of Thompson, ND; son Troy Marx of Stanchfield, MN; stepson Dana Svendsen of Pierre, SD; a sister Sandra Lohse of Rochester, MN; a brother Bruce (Sherri) Marx of Oklahoma City, OK; and a sister Sharon Marx of Watertown, WI. He is also survived by 10 loving grandchildren, one great grandchild, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved fishing and hunting partners.

He is preceded in death by his parents Beryl and Hazel Marx.
