Obituary for Roger A. Heathcote
Roger Heathcote, age 75, of Watertown, SD passed away Monday, February 13, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
Visitation will be from 4-7:00 pm, Monday, February 20, 2023 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown, SD.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, February, 21, 2023 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Pallbearers will be Mark Heathcote, Alan Martinmaas, Allen Clarke, Javon Heathcote, Toby Wishard and Mark Johnson.
Roger Alan Heathcote was born on March 24, 1947 to Ruthford and Viola Mae (Wishard) Heathcote in Watertown, SD. He lived in Wisconsin for a couple years and then moved back to South Dakota and lived at Lake Kampeska, where he resided there until he purchased Powell's Gas & Grocery in 1967. He lived there and ran the store until he was 62 when he retired.
Roger enjoyed bowling several nights a week, and fishing and hunting with family. He also enjoyed visiting his sister in Las Vegas for a few months. He liked playing Pinochle games and watching old westerns. Roger always said "I'm always broke, broke, broke".
He was a member of the Watertown Eagles and Elks Club.
Roger is survived by and missed by his siblings, Marlin (Bev) Heathcote of Florence, SD, Marty (Mona) Heathcote of Sioux Falls, SD, Rick (Diane) Heathcote of Henderson, NV; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rusty and Mae, his sisters, Reta Heathcote, Mavis Varga, and Rhonda Heathcote, and his brother Ronald Heathcote.
