Obituary for Ronald Joseph "Ron" Johnson

Ronald "Ron" Joseph Johnson, age 72, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Rochester, MN.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday April 19, 2023 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown with Father Richard Fox officiating, Mary Fox as the organist and the Immaculate Conception Funeral Choir.

Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Joe Pedersen, Wayne Welu, Mike Ridder, Logan Ridder, Charles Skolness and Jimmy Carlson.

Ron Joseph Johnson was born December 10, 1950 to Raymond and Helen (Krzeminski) Johnson in Fargo, ND. He graduated from North High School in Fargo, ND. Following graduation he joined the North Dakota Air National Guard where he served for 12 years. Ron then attended and graduated from NDSSOS, receiving his degree in civil engineering. He started working for the Department of Energy and Western Area Power as a lineman. He helped keep the lights on for 35 years before retiring in January of 2007.

He married Linda Pedersen in Fargo in 1975. To this union they had three children, Andy, Melissa and Jarod.

Ron enjoyed traveling with friends and family. His children and grandchildren were the joy of his life. He also enjoyed playing cribbage with his granddaughter and friends. Ron was very passionate and active with Alcoholics Anonymous, receiving his 40 year pin in March.

Ron is survived by his wife, Linda of 47 years; sons, Andy Johnson and Jarod (Christy) Johnson of Watertown; his daughter, Melissa (Ross) Mason of Sioux Falls his granddaughters, Hope and Sydney Mason of Sioux Falls; his grandsons, Ron and Jarod Johnson of Watertown; one sister, Margaret Skolness; many nieces and nephews; and his adopted family, Jim and Romelle Carter, Dave and Elaine Broich and Jerry and Kathy Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Helen Johnson, and one brother Donald Johnson.
