Obituary for Ronald "Ron" Schnackenberg

Ronald Schnackenberg, age 64 of Watertown, SD passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Visitation will be 5:00–7:00 pm, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown with Pastor Cheryl Rondeau-Bassett.

Ronald “Ron” Del Schnackenberg was born September 30, 1957 in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Charles and Corrine (Erickson) Schnackenberg. Ron grew up in Watertown where he graduated from Watertown High School.

He started out working at gas stations, was a truck driver and hauled and set mobile homes. For the majority of his career Ron was employed by Urevig Masonry as a bricklayer and most recently he worked for Lakeside Construction and Masonry.

Ron was united in marriage with Bobbi Trego on January 20, 1979 in Watertown.

Ron loved spending time with his family and friends in the “Doghouse”. He built model airplanes and cars. Most of his evenings were spent in the Doghouse with a blue yummy in his hands. He also enjoyed traveling to Spearfish to see close friends. Ron took pride in taking care of his lawn. He loved listening to rock & roll music especially Elvis Presley and was able to visit Graceland. Everyone would give him grief for always wearing his sunglasses. And last, but not least Ron enjoyed driving his wife, Bobbi crazy!

Ron is survived by his wife, Bobbi of Watertown, SD; his children, Jenni (Tate Ward) Schnackenberg, Traci (Keaton) Perman and Cody (Genie Roberts) Schnackenberg all of Watertown, SD; his four grandchildren, Genesis Schnackenberg, Jadrien Niles, Bailee Perman and Berkley Schnackenberg; his siblings, June (Larry) Lindner of Watertown, SD, Mitzi Simpson of Isabel, SD and Tom Schnackenberg of Lawrence, KS; his mother-in-law, Connie (Paul) Flemming of Florence, SD; his sister-in-law, Lori (Rick) Valberg of Watertown, SD; his brother-in-law, David (Brandi) Trego of Arlington, SD; and several other relatives; and his dog, Gizmo.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sara Schnackenberg Shepherd; his parents, Charles and Corrine Schnackenberg; his father-in-law, Robert Trego; his maternal and paternal grandparents; many of his close friends; and all of his fur babies.
