Obituary for Rose Crooks

Rose Crooks, age 87, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Avera St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre, SD.

Her visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 with funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown. Father Richard Fox will officiate.

Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD.

Pallbearers will be Dan, Leroy, Bill, Todd, Matt and Marcus Crooks.

Eileen Rose Crooks was born to Theodore and Eileen (Leber) Bachman on April 29, 1933 in Faith, South Dakota. She grew up in the communities of Faith and Summit, SD, graduating from Summit High School. She then attended Northern State College in Aberdeen, SD where she obtained her Teaching Certificate.

On September 10, 1955 she married Max Eldon Crooks in Wilmot, SD. The couple lived and farmed near Wilmot until 1964 when they moved to Watertown. Rose worked at Kmart for 25 years. Rose moved to Pierre in 2018.

Rose was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Watertown. She enjoyed cooking, shopping, walking, dancing and meeting with friends.

Rose is survived by her sons, Dan and Leroy Crooks of Watertown, SD, Bill (Marianne) Crooks of Fort Collins, CO, and Todd Crooks of Pierre, SD; two grandsons, Matt (Mette) Crooks of Wellington, CO, and Marcus Crooks of Fort Collins, CO; two great-grandchildren, Naomi Crooks and Jacob Crooks of Wellington, CO; and her brother, Harlin (Bev) Bachman of Watertown, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max on March 25, 2000; her sisters, Darlene Vriem, Gladys Christofferson and Veronica Hudson; and her brother, Tommy Bachman.
