Roy Aker, age 79, of Watertown passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2022.
There will be private family services.
Interment will be at Waubay.
Roy Alton Aker was born October 2, 1942 in Summit, South Dakota to Alton and Lois (Mitchell) Aker. He grew up in Summit where he graduated high school and then attended building trades school.
Roy served in the Army National Guard from 1961 to 1965.
He married Joyce Breske on July 11, 1970.
Roy worked as a carpenter in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area for an extended time. After moving back to South Dakota he was employed with Smith Equipment in Watertown for 26 years.
He enjoyed carpentry, hunting, fishing, and colleting coins, guns and railroad watches. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Roy is survivors are his wife, Joyce of Watertown; his children, Lee (Lynda) Aker of Hulett, WY and Troy Aker of St. Joseph, MO; his mother, Lois Aker Cotton of Watertown; his two grandchildren, Micheal and Melanie Aker; his brother, Roger (Marie) Aker of Watertown, SD and sister, Donna (Ray) Sturdevant of Watertown, SD.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alton.
