Obituary for Vera Mae Peddycoart

Vera M. Peddycoart, age 89, of Venice Florida and longtime resident of Watertown, SD, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022 in Venice, Florida.

Memorial service will be 10:30 am, Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Iver Possehl officiating and Sharon Falk as the organist. There will be a one hour visitation prior to the service.

Urn bearers will be Daniel Peddycoart and Billy Smith.

Interment will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.

Vera was born on a farm near Fulda, MN on July 22, 1932, to John Tammeus and Annie (Yantze) Tammeus. She graduated from Fulda High School in 1950, and married Raymond Leroy Peddycoart on Aug. 23, 1953. Together, the couple had two sons: Keith and Robert.

Vera had a flair for numbers and a head for business finance and was a long-time employee of Telelect, Inc. At the time of her retirement in 1994, she had risen to the position of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Vera was a long-time member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Watertown, SD, as well as Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice, FL. She also served on the Chamber of Commerce in Watertown, SD, in the mid-1990’s, after her retirement.

Vera and Ray enjoyed square dancing together at the competition level. Vera also loved baking sweets, and canning fruits and vegetables, and making jams and jellies.

Vera is survived by her son Keith (Valerie) of Watertown, SD, and Sun City West, AZ; her son Robert (Jillian Weaver) of Oconomowoc, WI; grandson Ryan of Venice, FL; grandson Daniel of Maple Grove, MN; step-grandson Billy Smith of Oconomowoc, WI; sister Margaret Nelson of Slayton, MN; and sister Marilyn Brink of Sioux Falls, SD. She is preceded in death by her husband Raymond Peddycoart; her parents, John Tammeus and Annie (Yantze) Tammeus; her brother John Tammeus, Jr.; and her sisters Beverly Heim and Dorothy Gustafson.
