Virgil Franklin Plunkett, son of Virginia Mae (Laqua) Plunkett was born on August 12th, 1941 in Watertown, SD. He grew up in Watertown spending his time between Watertown and the family farm located north of Kranzburg. He attended Holy Rosary in his early years, then moved on to Immaculate Conception, and graduated from Watertown High School.

Throughout his life he also owned the Tip Top in Kranzburg, Heartland Auto Crushers, and Heartland Auction Company.

He was a Scoutmaster and an avid supporter of Cub Scouts, including assisting in bringing scouts to the I.C. school. In his earlier years Virgil enjoyed drag racing, showing collector cars and selling auto parts. He was a musician all his life, working with many bands. The New Nashville Neighbors was his band, where he got to work with many talented musicians and vocalists. It was also through this band that he got to spend time with his family as the whole family was in the band.

Virgil enjoyed his life, and his time with friends. Whether it was coffee time, playing cards with the Friday night crew, or under the hood of a vehicle he was working on mostly with his best friend Randy, he enjoyed that time with each one of you.

Virgil is survived by his wife, Marjory; his sons, Phillip (Jamie) Plunkett of Goodwin, and Dale (Julie) Plunkett of Kranzburg; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his Mother, Virginia, and his special Uncle, John “Jack” Laqua.
