Obituary for William E. "Bill" Wiekamp

Bill Wiekamp, age 68, of Clear Lake, SD passed away Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his residence.

Funeral mass wil be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clear Lake.

Note Location:
Visitation will be 4-7:00 pm, with a scripture service, Friday, February 11, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Clear Lake.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his co-workers.

Pallbearers will be Garry Wiekamp, Bryon Daley, Jason Anderson, Randy Sherman, C.J. Bren and Robby VanWormer.

Interment will take place in Watertown at St. Mary’s Cemetery.


William Edward Wiekamp was born on September 5, 1953 in Clear Lake, South Dakota to Edward and Verda (Vanderzee) Wiekamp. Bill grew up in the Bemis area and attended Bemis Elementary Country School. He graduated from Clear Lake High School.

Bill was united in marriage with Linda A. Anderson on June 29, 1973 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. The couple had celebrated 48 years of marriage.

He farmed near the Clear Lake/Bemis area until 1987 and then worked at a farm equipment parts and sales shop in Clear Lake and Milbank, SD and Appleton, MN until 2005. He then was employed at Titan’s Machinery and was also part time at Menards in the paint department.

Bill was an active member of St. Mary’s Church who volunteered as a Eucharistic minister as well as chairman and parish council member. He also was a long time league bowler and a member and chairman of Deuel County Charities New Hope Cancer for many years.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; his six children, Chad Wiekamp of Watertown, Corey (fiancée, Rosa) of Fargo, ND, Craig (Emily) Wiekamp of Chamberlain, Nicolle (Kevin) Dahme of Fargo, ND, Nathan Wiekamp of Clear Lake and Kimberly Easter of Fargo, ND; his siblings, Carol Newell of Monroe, LA, Randy (Kathy) Wiekamp of Utopia, TX, Virgil Wiekamp of Park Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Christina Wiekamp of Rapid City; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Darrol; his sister, Brenda Muston; and two nephews, Jeffery Wiekamp and Taylor Muston.
